Welcome to my blog. This is my first post, and in this post I am going to share a difference between Lord Ram and Lankapati Ravan. I will give a short glimpse of the difference between them and what made Lord Rama kill intelligent Ravan.

(I wrote this post for my site “gomystical.com” but right now I am not working on that project for sometime. So I have shared this post as my first post of this blog.)

If you have been through the story of Ramayan, you know that Ram has appreciated the intelligence of Ravan. When Ravan was at his last moment of life, Lord Ram asked his brother Laxman to go and take some knowledge from Ravan, as he was going to die in the next moment. Laxman went to Ravan and asked him to give some lessons before leaving the world. This story shows that Lord Ram also appreciated the intelligence of Ravan, but he had to kill him.

Ram and Ravan’s major difference is very simple, and if this difference is understood and applied in our lives, then we can also remove the major tension in our lives. Ram is happy with what he has gained, whereas Ravan is always in the mood to gain everything. Let’s understand the difference quickly, and you can go through the video too to understand it in detail. I have uploaded two videos, which are in Nepali and Hindi, to make it clear.

Lord Ram was happy with what he had gained. Ram was supposed to be the king of his nation, but one day earlier he was sent to the forest for 14 years along with his wife Sita. And Ram happily accepted his father’s decision. His father Dasharatha asked Ram to dethrone him, take over the regime, and become the King of Ayodhya, but Ram accepted whatever he achieved rather than thinking of the next achievement. Ram dropped the idea of his father and accepted to go to the forest. And it is said that if Ram also thought of only achieving, he would accept his father’s idea and become king, but he would never be a lord. When Ram went to the forest, he was a common man. But when he returned from the forest, he returned as a Lord Ram.

Now let’s talk about Lankapati Ravan. Ravan was one of the most intelligent people of his time. He had wealth, he was brave, and he had the blessings of Lord Shiva. He had knowledge of science and the Vedas. But he was not happy with what he had achieved. He was always in the mood to achieve everything that others had. He knew that Ram has a very beautiful wife, so he thought of impressing Sita by showing his Lanka and his capabilities. So he abducted Sita from the forest, which was the major cause of his destruction. His motive to achieve more leads him towards demons. His intelligence was appreciated by Lord Ram too, but due to his selfishness toward achieving more, his education and intelligence couldn’t help him.

There is a saying that if Ram thought of becoming king and powerful, he could have, but he would have died being a king only. He accepted whatever he had achieved and went to the forest, which made him Lord Ram, and he has been worshipped. Ravan was more intelligent than Lord Ram at that time, but due to his selfishness, intelligent Ravan became a demon, whereas Ram became Lord Ram.

And now you can relate this difference to your life too. We are always focused on achieving more in your life too. We are always focused on achieving more. If we see friends carrying the latest iPhone or riding the latest bikes, then we become tensed and focus on achieving that. And in that process, we make mistakes that add additional tension and torture to our lives. We forget to be happy with whatever we have gained. If we first start appreciating whatever we have achieved, if we don’t compare our lives with others, and if we walk as per our achievements, then half of our life’s tension will be released. I know it is hard to apply to our lives, but simple things make a big difference. So if you try to apply this, you will find some change.

I will be discussing this topic more in the coming days to make it more clear.
